Presentation at Egyptian Waste Management Workshop on October 8th - 10th, 2024

The Waste Transformers participated in the Egyptian Waste Management Workshop held from October 8th to 10th, 2024, in Cairo. Coen Bakker, was invited to speak on Day 1 of the event, where he discussed the Dutch journey toward organic waste valorization and explored how innovative food waste transformation solutions can address Egypt’s unique waste management challenges.

Supported by the Dutch Embassy in Cairo, the forum provided a critical platform for industry leaders and policymakers to exchange ideas, identify opportunities, and explore sustainable solutions. Egypt’s waste management landscape remains complex, with significant gaps in waste segregation, transportation, and recycling, especially in organic waste. On October 8th, Coen delivered an insightful presentation that highlighted the Dutch approach to organic waste valorization, innovative solutions, and success stories. He also demonstrated how these solutions can be adapted to the Egyptian context, addressing pressing challenges in food waste management while showcasing opportunities for sustainable growth.
