Businesses in Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam are getting involved in efforts to collect waste and turn it into biogas and fertiliser. The Guardian interviewed founder Lara van Druten on our waste-to-value installation in Amsterdam. In the heart of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, at the historic site of the Westergasfabriek, our installation converts the organic waste from ten restaurants, two theaters, a micro-brewery and a number of creative industries. This former gas coal plant and the surrounding area has been transformed into a buzzing, healthy park. Unfortunately this buzz comes with a downside, waste. The Waste Transformers have created the solution. “The lights can go on at home because of the leftover French fries or bread from the night before,” says Druten. “The key is to reach the scale to have a transformer in every hotel, hospital, airport and street corner, and use that to power a greener future.” Read the full article here.
